The 2023 Bedlam Rivalry was a thrilling and historic showdown between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The contest was possibly the last-ever meeting between the two teams, as Oklahoma is set to join the SEC in 2024.
The Cowboys pulled off an upset victory over the Sooners, 27-24, with a late field goal by Alex Hale. The Cowboys' star running back, Ollie Gordon II, had a stellar performance, rushing for 137 yards and two touchdowns, including a 20-yard score in the first quarter.
The Sooners tried to rally behind their freshman quarterback, Caleb Williams, who threw for 264 yards and a touchdown, but also had two costly interceptions. The game was a nail-biter until the end, as the Sooners had a chance to tie or win the game in the final minute, but Williams was sacked on fourth down by Brock Martin.
The Cowboys celebrated their second win over the Sooners in three years, and improved their chances of winning the Big 12 title. The Sooners suffered their second loss of the season, and saw their playoff hopes fade away.
