Texas A&M's Tyrece Radford received an invitation to the 2024 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament which has been showcasing the talents of senior college basketball players to professional scouts since 1953.
The 70th P.I.T. will be contested April 17-20 with eight teams of eight players playing 12 games in four days.
Radford, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was a transformational figure in Texas A&M basketball history as he helped lead the Aggies to two NCAA Tournament berths and an appearance in the NIT Championship game in three seasons in Aggieland.
The 6-foot-3 Radford finished his career in the maroon and white as the program's only guard to accumulate more than 1,000 points and 600 rebounds after scoring 1,408 points and reeling in 636 boards in 106 games. In 2023-24 Radford became the first Aggie guard to post 500 points and 200 rebounds in a single season with 510 and 202. Among all players, he was the eighth 500/200 player in school history.
Last season, Radford helped lead the Aggies to second round of the NCAA Tournament while finishing No. 2 on the team in points, rebounds, assists and free throws attempted and made. In SEC play, he raised his scoring and rebounding averages to 17.1 and 6.4 per game, while scoring in double digits in 17 of 18 contests.
The P.I.T. has a proud history that includes a treasure trove of players that are now household names including Rick Barry, Earl "The Pearl" Monroe, Dave Cowens, John Stockton, Scottie Pippen, Tim Hardaway, Dennis Rodman and Jimmy Butler. Another highlight of the 2024 P.I.T. will be a salute to the legendary Virginia Squires of the ABA with appearances from Julius "Dr. J" Erving and George "Iceman" Gervin.
