With the 2023-24 season approaching fast, the Troy men's basketball program and head coach Scott Cross announced the addition of size and physicality in Randarius Jones.
"We are extremely excited about the addition of Randarius Jones to our basketball program," Cross said. "RJ is a big, strong post player who knows how to use his body to seal opposing post players. He has great hands and can really score well around the basket. I believe that RJ will make our team even tougher with his strength and physicality."
The 6-7 center comes to Troy after one season in the California Community College Athletic Association as a 27-for-27 game starter on LA Southwest, playing 26.7 minutes. In those minutes, Jones was a board crasher with 11.1 rebounds to rank eighth – includes 5.1 offensive boards. When conference play came, the sophomore ramped it up to 12.5, which ranked fifth.
Outside of rebounding, "RJ" was a double-double machine through his scoring output, averaging 13.3 points on an efficient 57.1 percent from the field – finished the season with 11 double-doubles. His career-high in scoring came at Rio Hondo with a 29-point performance on 13-of-20 from the field – recorded 16 rebounds. On Feb. 15, the Louisiana native posted a 20-20 game at Compton with 21 points and a career-high 20 rebounds.
Jones becomes the eighth addition to the roster with Tayton Conerway, Kerrington Kiel, Marcus Rigsby Jr., Theo Sen, Thomas Dowd, Jerrell Bellamy and Myles Rigsby.
