Kadin Shedrick has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play basketball next season at The University of Texas, head coach Rodney Terry announced.

Shedrick, who spent the last four years at the University of Virginia, will join the Longhorns for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Shedrick (6-11, 231), a forward from Holly Springs, N.C., played in 76 career games (34 starts) and registered 458 points (6.0 ppg), 317 rebounds (4.2 rpg) and 114 blocked shots (1.5 bpg) in 1,339 minutes (17.6 mpg) over the last three years at Virginia. He converted 63.4-percent (168-265) from the floor and 74.2-percent (121-163) from the free throw line during his time with the Cavaliers.

A two-time All-ACC Academic Team selection (2021-22 and 2022-23) who was named to the ACC Honor Roll (minimum 3.0 GPA) in each of his first three years on campus (2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22, this year's honor roll will be announced in July), Shedrick is on pace to earn his bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Virginia this spring. He redshirted as a freshman in 2019-20 and has two years of collegiate eligibility remaining.

During his redshirt junior season in 2022-23, Shedrick played in 30 of a possible 33 games (15 starts) and helped the Cavaliers post a 25-8 overall record (15-5 ACC) and advance to the NCAA Tournament Round of 64. He averaged 6.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and ranked fifth in the ACC in blocked shots (43 blocks, 1.4 bpg) in 17.5 minutes per contest. Shedrick converted 64.7-percent (66-102) from the floor and 79.4-percent (54-68) from the free throw line on the year. He tallied a season-high 17 points (6-6 FG, 5-7 FT) and two blocks in 32 minutes during an 86-79 win against No. 5 Baylor at the Continental Tire Main Event in Las Vegas (Nov. 18). Shedrick also posted 15 points (5-9 FG, 5-6 FT), 13 rebounds and four blocks in 28 minutes during Virginia's NCAA Round of 64 loss to Furman (March 16).

As a redshirt sophomore in 2021-22, he played in all 35 games (19 starts) as Virginia registered a 21-14 record (12-8 ACC) and reached the NIT quarterfinals. He averaged 6.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and ranked third in the ACC in blocked shots (67 blocks, 1.9 bpg) in 20.7 minutes per contest. Shedrick hit 64.1-percent (91-142) from the field and 70.9-percent (61-86) from the free throw line on the season. He posted a career-best 20 points (8-9 FG, 4-4 FT) at Louisville (Mar. 5), recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards at Miami (Feb. 19) and tallied a career-high six blocked shots at Clemson (Jan. 4).

During his redshirt freshman season in 2020-21, he played in 11 of a possible 25 games and help the Cavaliers post an 18-7 overall mark (13-4 ACC) and advance to the NCAA Tournament Round of 64. He averaged 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per contest while converting 52.4-percent (11-21) from the floor. Shedrick tallied a season-high 12 points and eight rebounds against Saint Francis (Dec. 1) and added 10 points and seven boards against William & Mary (Dec. 22).

Shedrick was a three-year letterman at Holly Springs High School (Holly Springs, N.C.). He averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots per game and earned South Wake Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Year honors while leading his team to the conference title in his senior season (2018-19). Shedrick also garnered All-SWAC first-team and North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association third-team accolades as a senior. In his junior year (2017-18), he averaged 16.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game and earned team Most Valuable Player recognition in addition to All-SWAC first-team and all-district third-team honors. Shedrick averaged 7.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game during his sophomore season in 2016-17.
