The UNLV men's basketball team lost at Boise State, 78-66, in the opening game of its two-game Mountain West series Thursday night at ExtraMile Arena.
Boise State (15-4, 11-3) was led by Emmanuel Akot's 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting, while Abu Kigab added 14 points and Mladen Armus scored 13 points with eight rebounds.
The Runnin' Rebels (8-10, 5-6) also had three players score in double figures, led by Bryce Hamilton's 26 points. Caleb Grill added 14 and David Jenkins Jr. had 12.
STATS OF THE GAME: Boise State shot 50 percent from the field for the game (26 of 52) and scored 14 more points than UNLV at the free-throw line.
TURNING POINT: UNLV held a six-point lead almost midway through the first half (19-13) when Boise State went on a 16-2 run to lead by eight at 29-21 with just over five minutes until halftime. The Broncos increased their advantage to 12 at the break.
