The University of Miami track and field team’s men’s 4x400m relay won gold and three school records fell Monday as the Hurricanes concluded competition at the ACC Indoor Championships at the Norton Health Care Sport and Learning Center.
The men’s 4×400 relay team of Lance Ward, George Franks, Ace Malone and Solomon Strader took home first place with a time of 3:06.59, the second-fastest time in program history.
Gabriella Grissom broke her own school record in the 800m to finish fourth at 2:01.60. George Franks placed second in the 200m with a time of 20.77, bettering his school record set on Friday. Cormac O’Brien set the school record in the 3000m with a time of 8:15.42, besting Austen Cannon’s mark of 8:17.27 set in 2023.
In the women’s triple jump, Christina Warren took home silver with a distance of 13.07m, the fifth-best performance in school history. Solomon Strader won silver in the 400m with a time of 45.86.
Erikka Hill recorded the first podium finish on the day placing third in the shot put with a throw of 16.67m, the fifth-best mark in program history. Sanaa Hebron followed up with a fourth-place finish in the 400m with a personal-best time of 52.88.
The women’s 4×400 relay of Iyonna Codd, Gabriella Grissom, Sanaa Hebron and Janay Moorer placed third with a time of 3:33.39.
Josh Jones recorded the fifth-fastest time in program history to place fifth in the 800m at 1:49.39.
As a team, the men finished sixth with 41.5 points, and the women finished 12th with 31 points.
