Taylor Beard and Malin Smith picked up event wins at the McCravy-Green Invitational as the University of Cincinnati track and field team started its 2021 season on Friday at Nutter Field House in Lexington, Kentucky.

Beard cleared 1.79m (5-10.50) in the high jump, a personal-best mark which outpaced the field and sits as the No. 2 indoor mark in the nation early in the season.
 
Smith took top honors in the shot put, finishing atop the board with a heave of 15.69m (51-05.75). It was her best throw indoors since hitting a personal-best mark of 15.95m (52-04.00) at the 2019 American Indoor Championships.
 
Jane Sensibaugh was third in the shot put with a mark of 14-10m (46-03.25).
 
On the men's side, Sam Meece brought home a third-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 18.11 (59-05.00). He was also fourth in the shot put with a best effort of 16.37 (53.08.50).
