Army West Point hockey sophomore defenseman Mac Gadowsky was named to the All-Atlantic Hockey First Team, as announced today by the league. In addition, freshman forward Jack Ivey was named to the AHA All-Rookie Team.
Gadowsky currently leads all defenseman in the country in both goals (15) and points (41) while leading the Black Knights to their 11-3-2 record in the past 16 games. He has recorded 31 points in Army's last 18 games and skated to a plus-14 rating in the 26 regular season conference games. Gadowsky's 41 points also set a new single season program record in the AHA era (2003-pres.) for Army, as it also the 4th-highest point per game total from any defenseman in Atlantic Hockey America history. The 15 goals from the blue line is also the third most in AHA history. Gadowsky is the only player in the country with 35-plus points and 35-plus blocked shots, and earned a pair of AHA Defenseman of the Month honors this season in January and February.
Ivey currently ranks second among all rookies in the conference in both goals with ten and points with 23. Ivey skated to a plus-five rating this season and is third on the team in points as Army has surged to an AHA semifinal appearance. He recorded six multi-point efforts in total and had a five-game goal streak from Jan.10-24, with Army going 5-0 over that stretch. Ivey earned Atlantic Hockey America Rookie of the Month for February after leading Army with four goals and nine points in the month. Ivey came on strong in the second half with 22 of his points across Army's final 25 regular season games.
