HOW IT HAPPENED

  • 13:27 1st (ASU 1-0) | Cole Gordon scored first to give the Sun Devils a 1-0 first-period lead. Kyle Smolen took a long shot that was deflected and allowed Gordon to finish. Brasen Boser got the play started, bringing the puck up the left side before giving it to Smolen.
  • 3:05 2nd (ASU 2-0) | Bennett Schimek scored a shorthanded goal early in the second period, giving ASU a 2-0 lead by tipping in the pass from Shlaine. Joel Kjellberg made a long pass to Shlaine from behind the Sun Devils' own goal line to set up a 2-on-1 break.
  • 7:25 2nd (ASU 3-0) | Just over a minute into their five-minute power play, the Sun Devils made it a 3-0 game. Shlaine dropped off a pass to a trailing Lukas Sillinger, and Sillinger then set up Kirwan for a one-timer.
  • 10:03 2nd (ASU 4-0) | Still on the power play, the Sun Devils upped their lead to 4-0 when Kirwan tipped in Shlaine's shot in front. Sillinger made a cross-ice pass to Shlaine to start off the scoring play.
  • 1:25 3rd (ASU 5-0) | Cullen Potter tapped the puck in off a pass from Cruz Lucius behind the net to push the ASU lead to 5-0 early in the third. Anthony Dowd made the initial pass to Lucius to get the play started.
  • 2:28 3rd (Miami 5-1) | Moulton got the RedHawks on the board with a wraparound goal just over a minute later. Max Dukovac retrieved a Blake Mesenburg shot and sent the puck along the boards to Moulton, who skated behind the net and then beat ASU goaltender Luke Pavicich.
  • 11:36 3rd (ASU 6-1) | Sillinger connected from the top of the faceoff circle to make it a 6-1 score. Ty Muchison gave the puck to Sillinger to set up the opportunity, and Kjellberg earned the secondary assist on the play.
  • 14:17 3rd (ASU 7-1) | Shlaine concluded the scoring with a shorthanded goal. Ethan Szmagaj knocked the puck loose from a scrum along the boards to Schimek, who sparked a 2-on-1 break and finally fed the puck to Shlaine for the finish.
