Six incoming Boston College men's hockey players were selected in the 2023 NHL Draft, which wrapped up with Rounds 2-7 on Thursday at Bridgestone Arena. The six draft picks are tied for the most in a single draft by BC since 1989 when seven Eagles were selected.

The Montreal Canadiens selected incoming goaltender Jacob Fowler in the third round with the 69th overall pick. Defenseman and New York native Drew Fortescue went later in the third round to the New York Rangers with the 90th pick, while fellow defenseman Aram Minnetian was drafted in the fourth round (125th overall) by the Dallas Stars.

Fowler was named the USHL Goaltender of the Year and won USA Hockey's Dave Peterson Goaltender of the Year Award in 2022-23. He backstopped the Youngstown Phantoms to the organization's first USHL Clark Cup championship, going undefeated in the finals. The Melbourne, Florida native led all USHL goaltenders in the regular season with a 2.28 goals against average, .921 save percentage and 27 wins. The Clark Cup Most Outstanding Player, Fowler finished the playoffs with an 8-1 record and led all goaltenders in every major category.

Fortescue skated in 62 games last season for the U.S. National Under-18 Team, posting a goal and 25 assists for 26 points with a plus-34 rating. He added three points and a plus-9 rating in seven games as Team USA won a gold medal at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Championship. A native of Pearl River, New York, Fortescue amassed 16 points in 51 games during the 2021-22 campaign with the U.S. Under-17 Team.

Minnetian registered 31 points on seven goals and 24 assists in 62 games for the U.S. Under-18 Team while posting a plus-48 rating from the blue line. He collected four points and was plus-16 for Team USA's gold medal winning squad at the U18 World Championship. The Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey native had 12 points in 42 games while skating for the U.S. Under-17 Team during the 2021-22 season.

On Wednesday night, Boston College had three first round picks for the second time since 2019, becoming just the second school to see three players selected in the first round on multiple occasions. BC also became the third school in NCAA history with a pair of top-10 selections in the same first round.

Will Smith made history as the highest draft pick in school history, going fourth overall to the San Jose Sharks, while Ryan Leonard went to the Washington Capitals with the eighth pick. Smith and Leonard's linemate with the U.S. Under-18 Team Gabe Perreault was drafted 23rd overall by the New York Rangers.
