UConn Football needs to drop to FCS or disband to stop the embarrassment was created by C. Austin Cox
At this point, the UConn football program is past embarrassing. The Huskies were in a BCS/NY6 bowl just over a decade ago as part of a power conference. And UConn was pretty competitive in that Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma. Hell, it earned Randy Edsall a job at Maryland - one he lost (like he does everything), only to end up back at the helm of UConn football.
Edsall is 6-31 since the Huskies rehired him. The guy is awful. I have no problem saying that bluntly in a forum post; he can't sue me. He's been fleecing the UConn athletic department with an insane contract that gives him thousands in bonuses each game for things like having 200 yards of total offense. He managed to get his son on the payroll - something the state tried to fight.
UConn had a negative ... NEGATIVE operating budget of $42 million annually for its athletic department. That was right before departing the AAC, paying that exit, the entrance fee to the Big East, and Kevin Ollie;s buyout ... you get the picture. It's a sht storm at UConn.
The only reason to keep football around right now is to pick up "buy games." UConn can sign home and home deals with teams like Fresno State - which we just saw the Bulldogs skull-drag the Huskies like a club-level team from a Canadian college that mistakenly wandered into the valley and got mistaken for UConn after the Huskies bus was delayed. There's a hilarious 70's Disney sports comedy there somewhere.
Just not as hilarious as the 45-0 beatdown UConn just took.
The University of Connecticut has made no secret that it does not care about football. So, how are the fans supposed to? Randy Edsall is just collecting a paycheck for him and get checks for his family.
At what point do they stop dragging this out?

Yeah I think UConn is done at the FBS level or whatever it's called nowadays. It spoke volumes when they made their first BCS bowl in program history and they couldn't sell all of their tickets. Granted the BCS did them no favors by putting UConn in the Fiesta Bowl right after Christmas. Many folks may not have had the funds to make that trip or had other plans for the Holidays, but still, they should have at least sold their tickets. It tells me the fans were never really into it nor supported it. It's FCS level support at best.

All I can think is that it must pay really well to be a whipping boy at this level. Good lord.
