MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — After finding great success in the transfer portal last season with Arizona transfer Tony Fields II, WVU has found another transfer linebacker in Lance Dixon.

The former Penn State Nittany Lion announced his verbal commitment to West Virginia Thursday morning on his Twitter page. Dixon has played in parts of two seasons at Penn State but he eligibility clock has not yet started. He appeared in three games during his true freshman season of 2019, making a pair of tackles. By playing in less than four games, he preserved a redshirt season. This past fall, Dixon played in seven games, making ten tackles and forcing a fumble.

All NCAA student-athletes are able to use the 2020 season as a free year of eligibility due to the pandemic.Dixon is a native of West Bloomfield, Mich. and was a 4-star recruit out of high school. Dixon is the second transfer making his way to Morgantown during this offseason. Spring Valley graduate and Virginia Tech transfer  Doug Nester joined the Mountaineer roster  in December.

Saw this the other day and meant to mention it. Thanks for posting. I don't know how good he is, but it's nice to have much needed bodies at the LB position after recent departures. Will be tough to replace Fields, but it's nice to land a former 4*
