UGA Hires WVU Assistant was created by queenszep
Jahmile Addae, who is arguably WVU's top assistant is heading to UGA. He played safety at WVU and returned to coach cornerbacks in 2019 before sharing the co-DC gig this past season. He'll be a defensive backs coach at UGA, which makes me wonder what the DC plan is at WVU, but he's going to be make exponentially more money more than likely. Paying assistants has always been a problem at WVU, which makes me wonder - what's the point of going to the Big XII and earning more money every season if you're just going to be a tightwad about it? Especially since he's a pretty dang good recruiter, too, from what I understand.
Partial story below:Mountaineer football coach Neal Brown has a spot on his staff to fill.WVU’s cornerback coach/co-defensive coordinator Jahmile Addae is leaving West Virginia to take a job as a defensive backs coach with the Bulldogs.“We are excited to add Jahmile to our staff and to welcome he and his family to Athens,” said UGA head coach Kirby Smart. “Having been an all-conference safety himself while playing for West Virginia, we feel like Jahmile will boost our team both as a former player who understood the game as well as with his knowledge from coaching at a high level over the last decade.”A former safety at West Virginia (2001-05), Addae returned to his alma mater in 2019, joining Brown’s initial staff at WVU. Previously Addae had coached at Minnesota (2018), Arizona (2014-17) and Cincinnati (2010-11), as well as serving as a graduate assistant at both Michigan (2008-09) and West Virginia (2007).
...
Addae is taking over at Georgia for the Bulldogs’ departing defensive back coach Charlton Warren, who was hired this week as the new defensive coordinator at the University of Indiana.
...
Brown will start his search for a new assistant coach to replace Jahmile Addae immediately. WVU’s head coach has not announced if Lesley will now hold the position of defensive coordinator completely himself, or if Brown will again break up the duties.
