Purdy picked up his seventh career award while the others are first-time honorees.
Purdy tallied his 13th career 300-yard passing game (307) and completed over 75% of passes (27-33) for a nation's-best fifth time in Iowa State's 24-21 win over No. 8 Oklahoma State. He also tossed a pair of touchdown passes and became ISU's all-time career leader in completions (844). Purdy is now 14-1 versus Big 12 teams at home in his career, and it was his seventh career victory as a starter against a Top 25 team. He is 49-of-58 in his last two games (84.5 pct.) and has led the Cyclones to seven fourth-quarter comebacks in his career.
While providing pressure the entire game, McDonald was credited with five tackles in the Cyclones' win over OSU. He had back-to-back sacks in a key fourth-quarter possession to help hold off a Cowboys comeback. McDonald also had a pass breakup and two QB hurries. He now has 25.0 sacks, one shy from the school record.
Legg converted three field goals and totaled 11 points in West Virginia's 29-17 win at TCU. His makes were from 27, 38 and a season-long 49 yards as he now has 13 field goals on the season and 20 in his career. Legg has seven multi-field goal games in his career, including five this season. He is the first Mountaineer to make three field goals in a game since Evan Staley at Kansas on Sept. 21, 2019. The 49-yarder was the longest by WVU since Legg hit a 51-yarder at Kansas State in 2019.
Neal rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns against No. 2/3 Oklahoma to become just the fourth true freshman nationally to compile these numbers against the Sooners since 2000. It was Neal's second 100-yard game of the season. Since becoming a starter four games ago, he has rushed for 344 yards on 70 carries for a 4.91-yard average per rush.
Woods recorded his first interception as a Mountaineer at the 13:58 mark in the fourth quarter and returned it 32 yards to set up WVU on the TCU 15-yard line. Three plays later, Leddie Brown scored his third touchdown of the game to give WVU a 12-point lead which was the final margin. Two drives later, Sean Mahone forced a fumble and Woods recovered it with 5:15 left in the game. He also recorded five tackles, including a tackle for loss at the end of the second quarter on a first-and-goal play. Woods then made the touchdown-saving tackle on the 2-yard line on third down, forcing the Horned Frogs to settle for a field goal before the half.
