After stellar performances in Maryland's 30-24 season-opening win over West Virginia, sophomore wide receiver Rakim Jarrett and junior quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa have each received national recognition.

Jarrett is one of six players in the FBS to be named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll, while Tagovailoa is one of eight quarterbacks selected as a Manning Award Star of the Week.

The Paul Hornung Award is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football and Jarrett proved his versatility in the win over the Mountaineers by touching the ball three different ways. The sophomore caught six passes for 122 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown reception late in the game that gave Maryland a 30-21 lead. Jarrett accounted for four first downs receiving, carried the ball one time and returned two kickoffs.

Tagovailoa completed 26 of 36 passes for 332 yards, while throwing for three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Terps win. It marked the juniors second career 300-yard game and his 26 completions tied a career best.
