(BCSNN) — Micah Hudson, a former five-star wide receiver recruit, has announced his return to Texas Tech after a brief stint at Texas A&M. Hudson, who initially signed with the Red Raiders as the program's highest-rated recruit in history, shared the news Sunday, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to finish what he started in Lubbock.

"Lubbock has always been home, and I'm forever grateful to the coaching staff, teammates and fans who make that possible," said Tech's Hudson in a statement. "I'm back to finish with I started. This experience taught me a lot about myself and what it truly means to be a part of the Texas Tech family."

Hudson's collegiate journey has been marked by challenges and transitions. After enrolling early at Texas Tech in 2024, the Temple, Texas, native struggled with injuries, limiting him to eight games and just eight receptions for 123 yards during his freshman season. He entered the transfer portal in December and committed to Texas A&M, but his time in College Station was short-lived, as he reentered the portal in March.

The 6-foot, 195-pound wideout was ranked as the No. 4 receiver and No. 12 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. Known for his athleticism and ability to make contested catches, Hudson aims to capitalize on his second chance with the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech, which boasts one of the top transfer classes in the nation, is optimistic about Hudson's potential to contribute to its pursuit of a Big 12 title and a College Football Playoff berth. Hudson's return underscores his resilience and commitment to fulfilling the expectations set during his recruitment.
