The University of Cincinnati football team wrapped up its final day of spring practice inside Nippert Stadium.
Friday's practice consisted of straight sunshine and 19 high-energy periods that concluded with redshirt junior walk-on Drew Logan being awarded a full scholarship.
"One of the things that we always talk about is being a connected football team," said head coach Scott Satterfield. "We reiterated at the end of practice how the winter and spring went, and we recognized the guys who put in the hard work. Drew Logan was one of the guys. He was a walk-on football player and now he's not going to have to pay for school anymore, which is awesome. I've been there and been a part of that.
"He's had a great spring," Satterfield continued. "He's improved as much as anybody we've had our team, and he's really stood out. So, you respect him a little bit more. There's certainly a soft place in my heart for a guy like that."
The 15th and final practice featured many younger players seeing reps to gain experience. The team focused on the importance of situational football as well as moving the ball, handling different downs, and navigating the red zone.
"We got a lot of good work with a lot of our young players, and then the vets got their time in, and I think they're all continuing to make progress," Satterfield said. "We're very pleased with how the 15 practices went."
Spring practice was highlighted by the Spring Showcase presented by Skyline Chili that was held on April 12. Cincinnati ran up a snap count into the 70's while working on some individual drills in front of a great crowd inside Nippert Stadium that day, giving fans an early glimpse at the 2025 Bearcats.
Satterfield emphasized the importance of staying healthy during spring practices. The indoor practice facility, set to open in the coming months, will be an asset in the recovery process and will give the Bearcats every tool they need to stay healthy.
"I thought we did a great job with that," Satterfield said. "Staying off the ground and trying to keep everybody healthy. In a competitive environment, it's tough sometimes. I thought the guys did an excellent job with that. Now you go into the summer relatively healthy."
This was Cincinnati's final spring without its indoor practice facility, which the program is eagerly awaiting.
"It's a tremendous building with a lot of opportunity to recover your body, get back full speed for the next day and to train," Satterfield said. "That's what it's all about in that building. I think our guys will take advantage of that, and it's going be so convenient for them."
The Bearcats will reconvene as a team for fall camp ahead of the 2025 season. Cincinnati opens the season in Kansas City on Thursday, Aug. 28, against Nebraska at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and has a home schedule that features seven home games: Bowling Green (Sept. 6), Northwestern State (Sept. 13), Iowa State (Oct. 4), UCF (Oct. 11), Baylor (Oct. 25), Arizona (Nov. 15) and BYU (Nov. 22).
