UTSA head football coach Jeff Traylor on Wednesday announced that he has added Denzel Feaster, a graduate transfer linebacker from Kansas, to the program's 2021 class, bringing the total number to 22 student-athletes.
Feaster played in 30 career games for the Jayhawks from 2015 to 2020. The Manor High School product registered 36 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a pair of fumble recoveries during his career. A second-team Academic All-Big 12 selection in 2019, he earned five starts in 2020 and posted 20 tackles, including 16 solo stops.
Feaster was a two-time all-district performer for head coach Sadd Jackson at Manor High School near Austin. He earned first-team All-District 17-5A accolades in 2014 after he recorded 30 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, one interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He collected second-team all-district honors at quarterback as a junior in 2013.
Feaster joins a 2021 class that also includes Kevorian Barnes, Brandon Brown, Clifford Chattman, Nick Evans, Ronnie Garza, River Gordon, Caden Holt, JaCorey Hyder, Malik Jones, Luke Lapeze, Caleb Lewis, De'Anthony Lewis, Eddie Lee Marburger, Noah Mitchell, Xavier Player, Jalen Rainey, Robert Rigsby, Kamron Scott, Dre Spriggs, Ron Tatum III and Ronald Triplette.
The class includes 13 high school players, five who are coming from the junior college ranks and four transfers.
A total of 17 of the new Roadrunners are from the state of Texas, including eight from the San Antonio area, three from the Greater Houston Area, two apiece from East Texas and the Rio Grande Valley, and one each from Central Texas and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Two players hail from Mississippi, while UTSA added one each from Louisiana, Massachusetts and Oklahoma.
Of the 22-member class, 19 are rated as 3-star prospects by at least one of the major recruiting services, while Ron Tatum III was a 4-star prospect.
