ORLANDO, Fla. (BCSNN) — The excitement around the return of Scott Frost to Orlando continues to rise with the news that the Knights are also bringing back Mike Dawson as the new defensive run game coordinator and edge coach for UCF.

Dawson, who previously worked with Frost at Nebraska and UCF, brings a wealth of experience to the team. He has served as a defensive analyst at Kansas and Ohio State in recent years and has a history of developing key defensive linemen.

Dawson expressed his excitement at returning, stating, "I'm incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Coach Frost's staff. Having previously worked with him at Nebraska and UCF, I've seen firsthand the passion, leadership, and commitment he brings to the game."

The Knights are looking to rebuild and improve their defense after a challenging season, and Dawson's expertise is expected to play a crucial role in their efforts.

A coaching veteran that is entering his 24th season, Dawson has mentored and molded players at the FCS, FBS and professional levels. He's got 20 seasons in the collegiate ranks under his belt, including 14 at FBS schools. Mike Dawson also boasts four years of coaching experience in the National Football League and has coached both outside linebackers and defensive lineman in college and the NFL.
