Kansas head football coach Lance Leipold has announced the addition of Leon Douglas to the Jayhawks' support staff as Assistant Director of High School Relations and Player Personnel.

Douglas is a longtime high school coach in the Kansas City metro area, where he most recently served for 13 years as the head football coach at North Kansas City High School in Missouri.

While at NKC, Douglas was named the Eric Driskell Coach of the Year in 2018 after leading the Hornets to a 9-2 record, which was the program's best season in 50 years. Following that season, he was also nominated by the Kansas City Chiefs for the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award. Douglas was later named the Kansas City Royals Coach with Character in 2019 and the Semper Fidelis Coach of the Year in 2023.

During his time at NKC, Douglas coached numerous players who went on to compete at the collegiate level, including Adetomiwa Adebawore, who played at Northwestern and is currently a member of the NFL's Indianapolis Colts.
