The Mike Elko era as head football coach at Texas A&M will kick off on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Notre Dame.
With the matchup between tradition-rich programs, Aggieland will serve as host for ESPN's College GameDay Built by The Home Depot and the ABC Saturday Night Football Presented by Capital One telecast with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m. at Kyle Field.
"We are extremely pleased that ESPN's College GameDay, as well as the ABC prime time game, will feature Texas A&M and Coach Mike Elko," Texas A&M Director of Athletics Trev Alberts said. "Our game with Notre Dame will be a great way to open our regular season."
This will mark the 10th overall appearance for Texas A&M in a game featured by ESPN's College GameDay and the seventh time to serve as host.
"Our players have been grinding through off season and spring workouts," Elko said. "Facing an outstanding opponent like Notre Dame will require that same type of effort and attitude each and every day to be prepared to play our best."
ESPN's College GameDay host Rece Davis is expected to be joined by Coach Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Jen Lada, Pat McAfee and Jess Sims, as well as Coach Nick Saban and national scribe Pete Thamel. The show airs from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
The ABC Saturday Night Football crew features Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit along with Holly Rowe on the sidelines.
