Texas Tech running back SaRodorick Thompson has been added to the list of participants for the Reese's Senior Bowl, which will take place at 1:30 p.m. CT Saturday at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.
Thompson is now in Mobile, the annual site of the Senior Bowl, where he will participate in the remainder of team practices prior to Saturday's game. Thompson, who will join the National Team, previously played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl last Saturday, which, like the Senior Bowl, is regularly attended by scouts and coaches from all 32 NFL organizations.
Thompson was one of six rushers for the American Team in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl as he finished with six yards on four carries in a 19-17 victory. He will become the first Red Raider running back to be selected to the Senior Bowl since DeAndre Washington took part in the 2015 game.
Thompson solidified his name as one of the top running backs in recent memory as he totaled 2,664 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns over his 50-game career as a Red Raider. Thompson, who had more than 3,000 all-purpose yards for his career thanks to an additional 520 receiving yards, rushed for at least 600 yards in three different seasons as one of the top running backs in program history.
A native of Irving, Texas, Thompson wrapped his Red Raider career ranked third all-time in career rushing touchdowns and eighth for career rushing yards. He passed the likes of Larry Isaac (1973-76), Baron Batch (2006, 2008-10) and Ring of Honor member Donny Anderson (1963-65) to reach the top 10 in career rushing yards late in the 2022 season where he led the Red Raiders to a bowl win for a second-consecutive season with a 42-25 victory over Ole Miss in the TaxAct Texas Bowl.
The Senior Bowl has been a popular destination for Red Raiders who ultimately make it to the NFL in recent years. In fact, each of Texas Tech's last four participants in the bowl all were on NFL rosters this past season in Jack Anderson (2020), Jordyn Brooks (2019), Terence Steele (2019) and Broderick Washington Jr. (2019).
Thompson is joined this week in Mobile by teammate Tyree Wilson, who accepted an invitation in December but will be unable to participate in this weekend's game. Wilson is currently projected as a potential top-10 selection in this spring's NFL Draft.
