Kicking off Bowl Season, UAB is set to face Miami (OH) in the 2022 HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl on Friday, Dec. 16 at Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.

The game will be played on ESPN at 11:30 a.m. ET/10:30 a.m. CT.
 
UAB's contest against Miami is the first bowl game of the 2022 season, and is also the first meeting between the two programs. Both teams enter the game at 6-6 overall and each won their season finale to achieve bowl eligibility.
 
For the Blazers, it is their seventh straight season being bowl eligible (2014, 2017-Pres.) and UAB will be playing in the program's sixth bowl game overall. UAB is 2-3 in bowl games and looks to win back-to-back bowl games for the first time ever after last year's 31-28 victory over No. 13 BYU in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

If the Blazers can defeat the RedHawks, it would be the program's 50th win since returning to action in 2017. Since its return, UAB has been the winningest team in Conference USA with an overall record of 49-26.
 
UAB boasts the nation's 5th ranked rushing offense and has shattered school rushing records this season. Entering the bowl game, UAB has a school-record 2,925 rushing yards and is currently on pace to set the record for rushing yards per game (243.8).
 
Walter Camp Second Team All-America honoree and Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year DeWayne McBride has paced the offense with the greatest single season in school history. McBride has set no less than nine school records this season and is the nation's leading rushing with 1,713 yards and ranks second nationally with 19 touchdowns. He was also named a Sporting News Second Team All-America honoree and a Third Team All-America selection by the Associated Press.
 
His backfield partner Jermaine Brown Jr. has also had a tremendous season and enters the bowl game 168 yards shy of 1,000 for the season. Brown Jr. has a career-best 832 rushing yards this season with six touchdowns. Also the team's primary kick returner, Brown Jr. as amassed 1,421 yards this season (118.4/game).
 
These two have the benefit of running behind an offensive line that saw all five of its starters earn Conference USA postseason accolades. Tackles Kadeem Telfort and Sidney Wells led the way with First Team honors, while center Will Rykard and right guard Quincy McGee were Second Team selection. Left guard Matthew Trehern earned Honorable Mention.
 
The Blazers enter the contest with the nation's 18th ranked pass efficiency defense. UAB has been stout in pass defense all season long, not having allowed a 300-yard passer and have collectively held opposing quarterbacks to a completion percentage of just 57 percent.
 
Miami is the winningest team in MAC history with 713 victories and started playing football in 1888. The RedHawks are playing in the program's 15th bowl game, having won eight of those contests.
 
The RedHawks average 20.3 points and 308.4 yards of total offense a game, while UAB is averaging 30.6 points and 442.3 yards per game.
 
Defensively, the teams are almost even as UAB allows 368.3 yards per game and Miami 371.7.
