Bulldog first-year running back Branson Robinson has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week following his performance versus Auburn, according to an announcement.
Robinson, a native of Canton, Miss., is Georgia's first SEC Freshman of the Week since two-time winner Brock Bowers earned the accolade following the Kentucky game last year. Bowers ended up being the SEC and national Freshman of the Year.
This is the Bulldogs' fifth SEC weekly award this season. Following the win over No. 11 Oregon, senior safety Christopher Smith was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week. Then, sophomore tight end Brock Bowers was named the Offensive Player of the Week after Georgia's victory at South Carolina. Senior place-kicker Jack Podlesny has garnered Special Teams Player of the Week honors twice this year.
Robinson had career highs of 12 carries for 98 yards, including a career long 30-yard run, and scored his first touchdown during the Bulldogs' 42-10 rout of the Tigers. Thanks in part to Robinson's day, the Bulldogs tallied 292 yards on the ground and 208 through the air to average 7.0 yards per play.
No. 1 Georgia (6-0, 3-0 SEC) plays host to Vanderbilt (3-3, 0-2 SEC) on Saturday. SEC Network will televise the Homecoming game on Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
