Sophomore punter Joshua Sloan has been named to the watchlist for the Ray Guy Award.
Sloan is enjoying a career year through six contests in 2022. He is averaging 45.1 yards per punt, ranking second in Conference USA and 20th nationally. He's booted 22 punts (992 yards) this season. It's a stark improvement from his previous two seasons.
Sloan averaged 39.1 yards per game in 2020 and improved that to a 39.5 average. Overall, this season, Sloan has placed four inside the 20-yard line and has booted four 50+ yard punts. His long this season is 64 yards against NM State.
The Ray Guy Award- named for football's premier punter- honors the nation's best collegiate punter. The Augusta Sports Council (ASC) created the award in 2000.
Following its win over the 49ers, UTEP will take the road to LA Tech on Oct. 8 in Ruston. The Miners and Bulldogs will kick off at 5 p.m. MT/6 CT at Joe Aillet Stadium.
