The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the week-ending Sept. 17.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
John Rhys Plumlee • Sr. • QB • UCF
Plumlee turned in his second game this season with 300 passing yards and 100 rushing yards as he led UCF to a 40-14 win at Florida Atlantic. He completed 25 of 36 passes for a career-high 339 yards and a touchdown and finished with 121 rushing yards and two TDs on 16 carries. He figured in 460 yards of total offense, engineering a Knights unit that had 653 total yards.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nick Anderson • Sr. • LB • Tulane
Anderson led a Green Wave defense that limited previously unbeaten Kansas State to 10 points and 336 total yards in a 17-10 road victory. Anderson tied for the team lead with six tackles, including a tackle for loss, with a quarterback hurry. Two of his stops came on fourth down plays as Tulane held the Wildcats to 1-for-5 efficiency on fourth down and 2-for-15 on third down.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mason Fletcher • So. • P • Cincinnati
Fletcher averaged 48.2 yards on five punts, dropping one punt inside the 5-yard line and hitting another for a career-long 67 yards to help Cincinnati to a 38-17 win against Miami (Ohio) in the annual Battle for the Victory Bell. The 67-yard punt matched the longest by an American Athletic Conference player this season. Fletcher leads The American in punting at 48.0 yards per punt.

Ben Bryant • Sr. • QB • Cincinnati
Completed 26 of 35 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-17 win against Miami (Ohio).
 
Holton Ahlers • Sr. • QB • East Carolina
Went 17-for-20 for 263 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-10 win against Campbell. Became The American’s career passing leader (11,019 yards).
 
Seth Henigan • So. • QB • Memphis
Completed 19 of 28 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing TD in a 44-32 win against Arkansas State.
 
Brian Battie • So. • RB • South Florida
Rushed for a career-high 150 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and finished with 250 all-purpose yards in a 31-28 loss at No. 18 Florida.
 
Davis Brin • Jr. • QB • Tulsa
Completed 27 of 35 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns in a 54-17 win against Jacksonville State. Had 373 passing yards and three TDs in the first half.
