Temple opens its home schedule against Lafayette, Saturday, September 10. Kickoff is set for 2pm and the game will air on ESPN+.

The Owls opened the 2022 season on the road against Duke in the head coaching debut of both Stan Drayton and Mike Elko. The story of the game was Duke's offense powered by sophomore quarterback Riley Leonard, who threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns, leading to a final score of 30-0.

Lafayette began its 2022 season at home against Sacred Heart, winning a close one 6-0. The lone score was by freshman quarterback Ryan Schuster, who ran one in from 18 yards out.

Last Time vs. Lafayette
The last time the Owls took on the Leopards was back in 1965, when Temple defeated Lafayette 27-12 at Temple Stadium. Temple quarterback Joe Petro led the Owls offense with help from his star receiver John Fonash. Petro completed 12 of 18 passes, throwing for 225 yards, all but one of his passes going to Fonash, who hauled in 11 catches for an astounding then-school record 213 yards. Fonash also added a 76-yard punt return, which set up the Owls for an early first quarter score.

Last time vs. Lafayette @ Lincoln Financial Field
This game marks the first time that Lafayette and Temple will play at Lincoln Financial Field. Temple Stadium was the home of the Owls when the Leopards last came to town.

Temple-Lafayette History
The Owls and Leopards were conference foes from 1958-1969, both playing in the Middle Atlantic Conference, until Temple became independent prior to the 1970 season.

Temple and Lafayette have matched up 13 times in the past, with Temple leading the all-time series 8-4-1. When playing in Philadelphia, Temple holds a record of 6-2-1 over Lafayette, with the Owls largest margin of victory at home coming in 1930 when they defeated the Leopards 43-0.

 Temple is currently riding a four-game winning streak against Lafayette dating back to 1962.
