Charlotte 49ers quarterback Chris Reynolds has completed a Triple Crown of sorts by landing on his third Watch List for a major national award given to outstanding college quarterbacks.

Reynolds, who is also on the Watch List for the Maxwell Award, which goes to the nation's most outstanding player, was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Watch List.

Earlier in the preseason, Reynolds was named to the Watch Lists for the Davey O'Brien Award, which is presented to the nation's top returning quarterback and the Manning Award, which is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.

GOLDEN ARM
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc., along with presenting sponsor A. O. Smith Corporation announced the 2022 class of Golden Arm Award candidates. This is the largest selection of active quarterbacks in the history of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award representing 76 schools around the nation. All 10 FBS conferences as well as a football independent are represented on the list.

The preseason Watch List, semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the distinguished Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, and former players. The award annually recognizes the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class. Candidates are chosen based on player performance on-and-off the field as we head into the 2022 college football season.

RECORD-HOLDER
Reynolds holds the 49ers' single-season and career records for passing yards, passing TDs, completion pct. and passing efficiency. In 2021, he threw for 2,684 yards and 26 touchdowns. A four-year starter, Reynolds has thrown for 7,726 yards in his career with 62 TD passes. He has earned All-Conference USA Honorable Mention honors in each of the last three seasons.

He has engineered five game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime in his career and has thrown three game-winning TD passes in the final minute or overtime.

CAPTAIN AND MORE
Reynolds, who will serve as the 49ers starting quarterback for the fifth straight season, was elected team captain for the third straight year in a vote by the players.

Last season, Reynolds was a semifinalist for the 2021 Burlsworth Trophy, which is presented to the top college player that began his career as a walk-on.

In 2021, Reynolds was also named to the C-USA All-Academic Team.
