Oklahoma State All-America long snapper Matt Hembrough is one of 25 FBS players included on the watch list for the 2022 Patrick Mannelly Award, announced by the Mannelly Award.
Hembrough, who was a second team All-America selection by the AFCA last season, is one of just three Big 12 players on the watch list for the honor, which is presented annually to the player judged to be the best FBS long snapper.
OSU's starting long snapper for both punts and place kicks each of the past three seasons, Hembrough has been perfect on more than 375 career snaps, including more than 185 snaps each on both punts and place kicks. In 2021, he was perfect on 149 total snaps during the season, ranking as the third-most snaps of any FBS long snapper according to Pro Football Focus. PFF also listed him as the highest graded overall FBS long snapper with a minimum of 140 snaps on the year.
A Lisle, Illinois native, Hembrough is one of nine OSU super seniors on the 2022 roster. He was also included on the Patrick Mannelly Award watch list in 2021 and is a three-time first team Academic All-Big 12 team selection.
The Mannelly Award was created in 2019 and benefits Bernie's Book Bank, a non-profit organization located in Lake Bluff, Illinois. The 10 semifinalists for the honor will be announced on November 14 and three finalists will be announced November 28. The winner will then be announced live at the award ceremony in Lake Bluff on December 10.
Oklahoma State is scheduled to open the 2022 season September 1 when it faces Central Michigan at Boone Pickens Stadium, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. CT on FS1.
