University of Dayton head football coach Rick Chamberlin has announced that two individuals who were part of the Flyer football program during their undergraduate days have returned to UD as staff members.

They are wide receivers coach Sam Costantino and Director of Football Operations Jake Speller.

Costantino was a wideout at Dayton from 2016 to 2019. The Middlesex, N.J. product got his coaching start while still playing football at UD. He was a wide receiver intern at his alma mater, Immaculata High School in the summer of 2017. He was also a football operations intern at Rutgers in the summers of 2018 and 2019.

After graduating from UD in 2020 with a degree in Marketing, he had stops at Westminster College, where he served as corners coach and co-special teams coordinator in the spring and fall of 2020, Eastern Illinois, where he was offensive quality control and assistant wide receivers coach in the fall of 2020 and winter of 2021, and Ball State, where he was a graduate assistant for the 2021 season.

Speller graduated from the University of Dayton in 2021 with a major in Sport Management and minors in both Mathematics and Business Administration. During his four years as a student, Speller worked as a Student Equipment Manager, Head Video Coordinator, and Assistant to the Director of Football Operations for the Flyer football team.

Previously, Speller had served as the Head Video Coordinator for Southeast Missouri State from June 2021 to March 2022.
