A home game against Tennessee, road contests at Gonzaga and Seton Hall and a neutral-site contest in Las Vegas against Stanford highlight the 2021-22 University of Texas men's basketball non-conference schedule released.

In addition, the Longhorns will play a regular-season contest in Gregory Gymnasium on the UT campus against Sam Houston State (Nov. 29), marking the first men's basketball game in the historic venue since Feb. 26, 1977. The Sam Houston State game in Gregory will not be included in the 2021-22 season-ticket package.

Texas is slated to play nine non-conference home regular-season contests in the final year of the Frank Erwin Center. The Big 12 Conference schedule has not been finalized at this time. Tipoff times and the complete television schedule for the 2021-22 season will be announced when available.

Texas will host Texas Lutheran University in an exhibition contest on Monday, Nov. 1. Former UT star Mike Wacker (1981-85) is the head coach at Texas Lutheran. Admission to the exhibition game against Texas Lutheran is free.

The Longhorns open the regular season with a home game against Houston Baptist on Tuesday, Nov. 9, before traveling to face national power Gonzaga on Saturday, Nov. 13. Texas will host Northern Colorado (Nov. 17), San Jose State (Nov. 20) and California Baptist (Nov. 24) in the Abe Lemons Classic, a multi-team event at the Erwin Center which will pay tribute to the legendary UT Basketball head coach.

The Longhorns will host Sam Houston State in historic Gregory Gymnasium on Monday, Nov. 29 and face UTRGV in the Frank Erwin Center on Friday, Dec. 3. Texas will travel to the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. on Thursday, Dec. 9 to meet Seton Hall as part of the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle.

Texas returns to Austin for a home contest against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday, Dec. 14 before heading to Las Vegas to face Stanford in the Pac-12 Coast-to-Coast Challenge at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday, Dec. 19. The Longhorns will host Rice on Wednesday, Dec. 22 and Incarnate Word on Tuesday, Dec. 28 before opening Big 12 Conference action during the first week of the New Year.

UT will step out of league play on Saturday, Jan. 29 for a home contest against Tennessee as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Tennessee game will mark the return of former Longhorns head coach Rick Barnes to the Erwin Center. The all-time winningest coach in program history, Barnes served as head coach at Texas for 17 years (1998-99 through 2014-15) and compiled an overall record of 402-180 (.691).
