The University of Houston Men's Basketball program learned the breakdown of its American Athletic Conference opponents during the 2021-22 season.

After plans for a 20-game conference slate during the 2020-21 season, the Cougars and other American teams will return to an 18-game game league schedule in 2021-22. Each school will play eight of its 10 opponents twice, home and away, with one opponent on the road only and one opponent at home only.

In 2021-22, Houston will face Cincinnati, Memphis, SMU, Temple, Tulane, UCF, USF and Wichita State in home-and-away series. The Cougars will play East Carolina once in the Fertitta Center while hitting the road to take on Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla.

ABOUT the HOUSTON COUGARS
Two starters and seven lettermen return from the Cougars' 2020-21 team, which advanced to the sixth NCAA Final Four in school history, captured the American Athletic Conference Tournament championships and posted a 28-4 overall record under the leadership of Head Coach Kelvin Sampson.

Entering his eighth season with the Cougars, Sampson has competed in more than 1,000 games during his award-winning career. He ranks as the second-winningest coach in program history and leads the Cougars in overall winning percentage (.723) and conference winning percentage (.680).

Junior guard Marcus Sasser returns from an All-American Athletic Conference season a year ago, averaging 13.7 points per game with 78 3-pointers, including back-to-back 20-point contests against Oregon State and Baylor in the NCAA Tournament.

Forward Fabian White Jr. returns as a "super-senior" after battling through a severe knee injury, surgery and rehab to return to the lineup in the second half of the season a year ago. Sophomore guard Tramon Mark showed basketball fans a promising future with clutch late-season shots against Memphis and against Rutgers in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
