The defending Conference USA Men's Basketball Tournament champion North Texas' 2022 18-game league schedule has been finalized by C-USA.

League games will be played on Thursday and Saturdays. North Texas will play every team from the West twice with home and home matchups: Rice, UTEP, UTSA, LA Tech, Southern Miss and UAB. They will face every team from the East once except FIU who they don't play at all during the regular season. In total UNT will play nine home and nine away league games.

Conference play begins for North Texas on Jan. 1 when they host Rice in Denton at the Super Pit.

The Mean Green's first three conference games are all at home. Rice (Jan. 1), UAB (Jan. 6) and Middle Tennessee (Jan. 8).

In last season's C-USA Tournament championship game, UNT beat Western Kentucky, 61-57 in overtime. North Texas will travel to WKU on Jan. 15 after a Jan. 13 game at Marshall.

UNT welcomes Charlotte to the Super Pit on Jan. 20. The Mean Green and 49ers didn't play each other last year. On Jan. 22 Old Dominion comes to town. North Texas beat the Monarchs 61-55 in the quarterfinals of the 2021 C-USA Tournament. It was the only time the two schools met last year.

On Jan. 27 the Mean Green travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to face Southern Miss. UNT beat the Golden Eagles twice last year. Both games were at USM. North Texas has won four straight over the Golden Eagles. The last three meetings against USM have come on the road.

On Jan. 29 the Mean Green travel to Louisiana Tech. UNT beat LA Tech 54-48 in the 2021 C-USA Tournament semifinals. The North Texas and LA Tech series over the last three years has been extremely tight. The Mean Green have won four of the last seven meetings and the average score differential has been just 4.7 points in those seven match ups.

The Mean Green return home on Feb. 3 to host UTEP and then UTSA on Feb. 5. North Texas swept the Miners in two games last season in Denton. They split a two-game road series at UTSA a season ago.

After a bye, UNT travels down to Houston to face Rice on Saturday Feb. 12. Under head coach Grant McCasland, UNT has won seven out of their eight match ups versus the Rice Owls.

On Feb. 17 the Mean Green hit the road for Boca Raton, Florida, and face Florida Atlantic. UNT hasn't played at FAU since Feb. 14, 2019.

After playing at Florida Atlantic, UNT makes an unusual quick trip to Birmingham, Alabama, to face UAB two days later. Under McCasland, UNT is 2-0 at UAB.

UNT is back at the Super Pit on Feb. 24 to host Southern Miss. The Mean Green haven't hosted the Golden Eagles since Jan. 5, 2019 when they won 65-62.

The final home game of the 2021-22 season will be on Feb. 26 when North Texas hosts LA Tech.

Finally, the Mean Green conclude the regular season with a March 3 trip to UTSA and then a March 5 game at UTEP for the last game of the year. Under McCasland, North Texas is 2-0 in El Paso but hasn't played at UTEP since Jan. 10, 2019 when they beat the Miners 58-51.

The 2022 C-USA Basketball Championships will take place March 9-12 at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

C-USA's television partners could still ask for date changes to accommodate broadcast schedules. Game times will be announced at a later date.
