Texas Tech head coach Mark Adams has officially announced the signing of transfer guard Mylik Wilson to a financial aid agreement on Tuesday. Wilson will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after playing two years at Louisiana-Lafayette.

"I'm excited about playing at Tech because I think it is a great school and I think I would fit in their program," Wilson said. "I'll bring toughness and a winning attitude to the program. I know that Tech plays in a tough conference and playing against top-level players will bring out the best in me."

A 6-foot-3 guard from Rayville, Louisiana, Wilson is coming off a sophomore season where he averaged 12.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game. A starter in all 26 games in his second season with the Ragin' Cajuns, Wilson was 29th in the nation with 52 total steals and 33rd in the country with his 2.0 steals per game. He was named the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year after averaging 11.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.3 steals in his first season.

He would score a season-high 25 points by going 5-for-5 on 3-pointers against UT Arlington last year in a game where he also added 16 rebounds and four steals. Wilson finished the season with four double-doubles, including going for 16 points and 10 rebounds in a win over South Alabama in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament. He would have two games with five steals, both coming against New Orleans and had a season-best seven assists against Louisiana-Monroe. In the conference tournament, Wilson had six assists against South Alabama and Georgia State to finish the season with a team-high 83 assists and also earn All-Tournament honors.

Wilson scored in double figures in 21 of 26 games played, including scoring 20 or more in four games. He finished the season shooting  43.9 percent from the field with 13 3-pointers. Along with his 52 steals, Wilson had 25 blocked shots during the season after having 18 as a freshman from the guard position. Through two collegiate seasons, Wilson has 120 steals and 168 assists to go along with scoring 669 points through 55 games played.

Coming out of Rayville High School, Wilson was the No. 1-ranked player in the state of Louisiana where he helped lead his team to back-to-back Class 2A state titles. Earning LHSAA Class 2A State Player of the Year as a junior and season, Wilson averaged 18 points and eight assists as a junior and senior in his illustrious high school career. His junior season was highlighted by the team going 36-0 for his first state title before he led the program to another championship as a senior. Wilson was a four-star prospect coming out of high school before signing with Louisiana.
