University of Miami men’s basketball coach Jai Lucas announced the signing of guard / forward Marcus Allen.

Allen, a 6-7, 220-pound guard/forward from Miami, joins the Hurricanes after spending his freshman season at the University of Missouri where he averaged 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in 26 games as a Tiger.

“Being a local Miami product, we are very excited to bring Marcus back home to The U,” Lucas said. “He is an extremely tough basketball player, both mentally and physically, and will be a strong presence on defense. Having played for Coach CY at Missouri, we know he will seamlessly make the transition into our program.”

Allen averaged 9.2 minutes per contest at Mizzou and scored a season-high 10 points against Mississippi Valley. He also recorded three multi-assist games as a freshman.

A consensus four-star recruit out of high school, Allen was rated the No. 74 player in the class of 2024 by ESPN100 and No. 80 by 247Sports.

As a senior at Miami Norland, Allen averaged 22.7 points and 13.2 rebounds, helping the Vikings win the 2024 FHSAA Class 5A state championship. Allen totaled seven points and eight rebounds in the title game.

Allen was named the 5A Player of the Year in 2024 and earned Joe DiMaggio South Florida High School Player of the Year honors. He was also tabbed to the 2024 Allen Iverson Classic All-American game.

In 2022-23, Allen played for AZ Compass Prep, aiding the Dragons to the GEICO National Championship game.
