The University of Texas and the University of Connecticut have finalized an agreement to play a home-and-home series over the next two seasons, the two schools announced.

The Longhorns will host the Huskies this coming season in Moody Center in Austin on Dec. 8, 2024. Connecticut will play host to Texas the following year on Dec. 12, 2025.

Tip time and television network coverage for this year's game in Austin will be announced at a later date.

Connecticut holds a 7-3 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools but just a 4-3 margin over the last seven games of the series entering this year's matchup. The series dates back to a 94-77 win by No. 8 Connecticut in Austin on Dec. 14, 1991. No. 16 UConn followed with a 96-86 victory in Storrs on Dec. 15, 1993, and the No. 5 Huskies registered a 77-67 win in Hartford against No. 15 Texas on Jan. 10, 2000.

Texas upset No. 15 UConn 60-56 in Austin on Jan. 15, 2001. The No. 5 Longhorns then recorded an 82-78 win against No. 23 Connecticut in the NCAA Sweet 16 in San Antonio on March 28, 2003. The Huskies posted an 88-74 win in Storrs against No. 1 Texas on Jan. 23, 2010, before No. 8 UConn recorded an 82-81 overtime victory against No. 12 in Austin on Jan. 8, 2011.

Current UT graduate assistant coach Jonathan Holmes hit a three-pointer with 2.2 seconds remaining to lift No. 7 Texas to a 55-54 victory over No. 24 Connecticut in Storrs on Nov. 30, 2014. The win snapped a 44-game win streak by the Huskies against non-conference opponents at Gampel Pavilion. UConn answered with a 71-66 win in Austin on Dec. 29, 2015. In the most recent matchup between the two schools, the No. 5 Huskies earned an 81-71 victory over No. 15 Texas in the championship game of the Saatva Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 20, 2023.

Texas posted a 21-13 record during the 2023-24 season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32. With their victory over Colorado State in the NCAA Round of 64, the Longhorns won their NCAA First Round game for the third consecutive season. This marked the first time Texas has accomplished the feat since UT won four-straight NCAA First-Round games from 2006-09. The Longhorns are one of just eight programs in Division I men's basketball to advance to at least the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 in each of the last three seasons, joining Baylor, Creighton, Gonzaga, Houston, Kansas, Michigan State and Tennessee.
