East Carolina junior outfielder Jacob Jenkins-Cowart has been named the final American Athletic Conference Player of the Week of the 2024 regular season according to an announcement by the league.

The weekly honor marks the second of the year for Jenkins-Cowart as he was recognized back on Feb. 19 following the Pirates' Opening Weekend sweep of Rider.

Jenkins-Cowart hit .500 (7-for-14) with five runs scored, 11 RBI, a double, three home runs and a 1.714 OPS to help propel ECU to a series sweep of Rice that clinched the Pirates' fifth-straight AAC regular season title. He also increased his RBI total to 71 to set the conference single-season record.

In Friday's doubleheader opening contest, a 15-5 eight-inning victory, Jenkins-Cowart went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and a career-high six RBI. He also posted a trio of runs driven in Thursday before polishing off his series with two hits and an additional pair of RBI.

Senior RHP Danny Beal also earned a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after tossing four scoreless relief innings with six strikeouts in the series finale – a 6-4 ECU triumph that clinched the outright regular season championship.

Top seeded East Carolina opens the 2024 American Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Tuesday when it faces off with No. 8 seed Rice inside BayCare Ballpark. The contest is slated to begin approximately 47 minutes following the conclusion of the tournament's opening game between fourth-seeded Wichita State and No. 5 seed UAB which is set for a 9 a.m. first pitch.
