Good news for Gator fans with it being reported that Todd Golden has agreed to a two-year contract extension with Florida that gives the head basketball coach a nice bump in salary.
The school and coach have yet to announce anything official, as the financial details still need to be approved by the university’s compensation committee. The two year extension will keep Golden under contract through 2030.
It was only two years ago, in 2022, that Golden signed a six-year, $18 million contract, which allowed the coach to haul in $3 million this season. The head coach of the Gators has gone 94-63 over five seasons, including three during his previous stop at San Francisco.
Florida (21-10, 11-7 Southeastern Conference) are the No. 6 seed in the ongoing league tournament in Nashville, Tennessee, and play Georgia on Thursday night. Golden is 37-27 in two seasons in Gainesville and has Florida on the cusp of its first NCAA Tournament appearance in three years.
Give credit where credit is due, as Todd Golden managed to overhaul the Gators via the transfer portal, adding first-team All-SEC point guard Zyon Pullin (UC Riverside) along with leading scorer Walter Clayton Jr. (Iona) and both Micah Handlogten (Marshall) and Tyrese Samuel (Seton Hall), which added some much-needed big men to the roster.
