The Terps' win streak at the XFINITY Center was snapped as No. 1 Purdue defeated Maryland, 67-53, Tuesday at the XFINITY Center. The home game win streak ends at 19 consecutive games as the Terrapins were unable to repeat their court storming Feb. 16 upset over No. 3 Purdue last season.
Maryland's (9-5, 1-2 Big Ten) streak of 14 consecutive home wins in Big Ten play was also snapped - a streak dating back to the 2021-22 season. The streak was also the Terps' longest since winning 16 consecutive ACC games from the 2000-01 through 2002-03 seasons.
Maryland trailed by as many as 15 points late in the first half and was never able to close the gap. Purdue's lead grew to 22 points in the second half with Maryland struggling to shoot from the floor.
Jahmir Young carried the load offensively in his return to action. He led the Terps with 26 points.
Purdue (13-1, 2-1 Big Ten) won in College Park for the first time since the 2017-18 season. The Terps had previously won their last four meetings against the Boilermakers at the XFINITY Center.
Purdue remains undefeated since reclaiming the No. 1 spot in the AP poll. Zach Edey carried Purdue with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

- The Terps' struggles continued as they trailed by more than 20 points five minutes into the second half. A Jahmir Young 3-pointer cut the lead to 19 and gave him 15 points in the game.
Coach Willard's Take
"We'll definitely be a different team in February," Willard said. "It's tough. It's tough to play these games when your students aren't here, to be honest with you. They make a huge difference. But I do think these kinds of games are good for us in fact that some of these guys will kind of see where we're at."
From The Guys
"It's definitely tough losing on your home court," Jahmir Young said. "We haven't lost here in 2023. To start the year taking this L, I mean, they're a really good team. So if there's anybody I would rather lose in this building it would be them. But we'll bounce back."
Double-Figure Factors
- Jahmir Young (26 points) dropped double-figures for the 118th time in his career and the 12th time in 13 games he's played this season. It's also the ninth game in a row that he's played and scored double-digits.

- With 26 points in the game, Jahmir Young added to his career scoring total and now has 2,232 points. He is the second-leading active scorer in the nation behind Texas' Max Abmas (2,767).

- Young is the only active player in the nation with 2,000+ points, 600+ rebounds and 400 assists as he has 2,232 points, 674 rebounds and 415 assists.
