The Sun Devil men's basketball squad (6-4) started out strong in its NCAA Tournament rematch in Fort Worth against TCU (8-1), but a strong start from newcomer Adam Miller in his first game wasn't enough in a 79-59 loss to the Horned Frogs late Saturday in the USLBM Coast-to-Coast Challenge at Dickies Arena.
ASU led 23-9 as Miller scored 15 first-half points, but foul trouble and surge by TCU midway through the second half was too much to overcome. ASU was outscored 15-7 to end the half and TCU went on an 18-2 run to ice the game early in second half.
Miller finished with 20 points and made all seven of his free throws. Jose Perez added 11 points.
ASU next will take on Northwestern (8-2) at Footprint Center in Phoenix on Wednesday (Dec. 20) at 6:30 p.m. MT.
