The bracket for the eight-team Battle 4 Atlantis, presented by Bad Boy Mowers, was released with the University of Michigan men's basketball team taking on Memphis in its opening round on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. on ESPN2.
In a battle of former NBA legendary stars now coaching at their respective alma maters, Juwan Howard's Wolverines will take on Penny Hardaway's Tigers the Game 3 of the opening day of play.
If U-M defeats Memphis, it will move to the championship bracket and square off with the winner of Arkansas/Stanford on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. (ESPN). If the Maize and Blue lose its first game, the Wolverines move to the consolation bracket and plays the loser of Arkansas/Stanford at 7:30 p.m. (ESPNU).
Michigan closes the Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday (Nov. 24) with its final game against one of the four remaining teams in the field: North Carolina, Northern Iowa, Texas Tech or Villanova.
U-M is making its third appearance in the Battle 4 Atlantis and has a 5-1 overall record. In its last outing, the Wolverines won the 2019 title in Howard's first year as head coach after wins over Iowa State and back-to-back upsets of No. 6 North Carolina and No. 8 Gonzaga.
In 2016, U-M made its first appearance in the annual Thanksgiving event, finishing 2-1. After losing to UConn in the opening round, the Wolverines defeated Charlotte and Texas to finish fifth overall.
