Fifth-year senior Keyshawn Bryant scored a career-high 30 points on senior night Wednesday at the Yuengling Center as the University of South Florida Bulls extended their winning streak to three straight with a 72-56 triumph over Tulsa.
South Florida (14-16, 7-10 AAC) has won four of its last five games overall.
USF honored Bryant, Jake Boggs, Mark Calleja, Jamir Chaplin, Tyler Harris, Kenu Louissaint and Serrel Smith Jr. prior to the game as the Bulls swept the season series from the Golden Hurricane.
Harris set a new South Florida single-season three-point record with his 89th triple late in the second half of the victory. Former record holder Derrick Sharp was in attendance to "pass the torch" to Harris with the game ball after the final whistle.
"It's always special on senior night, and to see the results lately from this group who has been extremely resilient throughout the season was even more special," said head coach Brian Gregory. "Keyshawn was in attack mode early, and I thought Dok (Muordar) and Corey (Walker Jr.) gave us a lot of really good minutes tonight. Overall, our defensive effort was really good again in this game, and we put together another pretty complete effort from start to finish on both ends."
Corey Walker Jr. drew the start and was spelled by Dok Muordar as the duo filled in for Russel Tchewa in the lineup on Wednesday night.
Tulsa took a 4-0 lead in the opening minutes of the ballgame before USF scored 13 unanswered points and exploded on a 23-6 run to claim a 23-10 advantage at the 6:58 mark of the first half.
Bryant poured in 12 of his 30 points in the first half as the Bulls took a 35-20 lead into the locker room, tied for their largest halftime lead of the season.
After the Bulls built a 21-point lead early in the second half, the Golden Hurricane used a 21-5 run to suddenly make it a 46-41 affair with 10:14 left to play. USF answered with buckets on each of its next two possessions, and at the 7:15 mark put together a 15-0 run to put the game out of reach for good.
Bryant went 7-for-10 from the field for 18 points in the second half.
