Houston has been tabbed No. 1 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll. Houston (6-0) received 45 first-place votes in the AP Top 25 and 23 in the Coaches Poll. Texas is ranked No. 2 in both polls.

It is the first time an American Athletic Conference men's basketball team has been ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 and it is the first time a team from The American has been in the top spot in coaches poll during the regular season. UConn was ranked No. 1 in the final Coaches Poll after winning the 2014 NCAA Championship.

Houston hosts Norfolk State on Tuesday, November 29 at 8 p.m. Eastern on ESPN+ before taking on Saint Mary's on Saturday, December 3rd at 9:30 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Dickies Arena will be the site of the 2023 American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship
