Visiting Colgate (3-1) set a Dome record with 19 3-pointers and the Raiders defeated Syracuse (1-1), 80-68, on Tuesday night.

The Raiders had snapped a 54-game losing streak at the hands of the Orange last season and now have won back-to-back outings against Syracuse since1962.

Four Orange performers put up double digits –  freshman guard Judah Mintz had a career-high 20 points, sophomore forward Benny Williams followed with a personal-best 17, senior guard Joseph Girard III contributed 14 and senior center Jesse Edwards tallied 10 points.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED
The Raiders took off on a 20-14 run over the Orange to cement a 44-30 lead going into the break. Within the first frame, Williams and Girard each put up nine points to keep the Orange in within distance, but were never able to jump in front for the remainder of the matchup.

COACH BOEHEIM SAID
"We had no chance to play them man-to-man," said head coach Jim Boeheim. "That was pretty obvious from the beginning. We adjusted, we were ok after that. But, for this game, our defense wasn't as bad as our offense. Our offense was horrendous."

SHORT LIVED LEAD
Mintz scored the game's first basket and Girard added a 3-pointer that give the Orange a 5-2 advantage in the first three minutes. The Raiders responded by scoring eight of the next nine points and never trailed again.

HOT FROM DEEP
Colgate used the 3-pointer effectively in the first half, connecting on 11-of-21 (.524) by the intermission. Senior guard Tyler Richardson had 19 points in the first half and 15 of those came via his five 3-pointers.

Syracuse cut Colgate's lead to eight points, 35-27,when Williams connected on a 3-pointer with 3:03 left in the opening half. The Raiders answered with nine unanswered points constructed with a trio of 3-pointers from Richardson.

AN EVEN SECOND HALF
Syracuse outscored Colgate in the second half, 38-36, but the Raider advantage was too big to overcome. The Orange were unable to get closer than 11 points in the final 20 minutes.

Mintz tallied 14 of his 20 points in the second half to pace the Orange.
