Going undrafted isn't going to deter Bryson Williams or Adonis Arms. Anyone who knows their journeys understands that. Following standout super senior seasons at Texas Tech, the pair have agreed to free agent deals to continue their careers. Williams with the Miami Heat. Arms with the Denver Nuggets.
Both Red Raiders will have the opportunity to compete at the NBA Summer League next month in Las Vegas. Arms has signed an Exhibition 10 contract with the Nuggets, while Williams has not signed a contract beyond the agreement to play in Las Vegas.
Williams led Tech last season with 14.1 points per game where he scored in double figures in 29 games. A starter in all 37 games for the Red Raiders, Williams earned All-Big 12 First Team and Big 12 All-Newcomer Team honors along with NABC and USBWA All-District. A Fresno, California native, he played one season at Tech after starting his career with two seasons at Fresno State and two at UTEP. Williams finished his collegiate career with 2,149 points and 900 rebounds. As a Red Raider, he scored a season-high 33 points at Kansas and finished the season with 21 points and five rebounds against Duke in the Sweet 16. Williams shot 41.7 percent from beyond the arc with 40 made 3-pointers. He scored 20 or more points in seven games, including going for 20 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament against Montana State before his 21 points on 8-for-16 shooting against Duke.
Arms averaged 8.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game in his only season with the Red Raiders last season. He started 25 of 37 games, scoring a season-high 16 points in the win over Mississippi State and also went for 15 points four times. He had 15 in the home win over Baylor and then again against Montana State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. He finished the season by contributing 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists against Duke in the Sweet 16. A Milwaukee native, Arms played two seasons at Mesa Community College, one at Northwest Nazarene and one at Winthrop before playing his super senior season at Tech. Arms earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection.
The NBA Summer League is set for July 7-17 in an 11-day competition featuring all 30 NBA teams at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
