Vanderbilt men’s basketball’s Scotty Pippen Jr. earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s men’s basketball Player of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday by the organization.
Pippen, who recently declared for the upcoming NBA Draft, secured the award for the second-consecutive season.
In 2021-22, Pippen led the SEC with 20.4 points per game and set the Vanderbilt single-season record with 736 points. The guard excelled throughout his three seasons in Nashville, capped by helping the Commodores reach the NIT quarterfinals in 2022.
Pippen tallied 1,577 career points, good for 12th on Vandy’s scoring list. His 17.5 points per game during his three seasons with Vandy are good for fifth best in school history.
