New Maryland men's basketball head coach Kevin Willard announced the signing of his first recruit since being named Terrapin head coach. Frederick native Noah Batchelor, a 6-6 guard/forward, officially signed with the program.
Batchelor played at powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida last season after starring at Glenelg Country School in Ellicott City and St. Maria Goretti Catholic High School in Hagerstown prior to that.
Batchelor, who has been ranked as high the No. 22 small forward prospect in the nation by Rivals in 2021, has participated in two USA Basketball camps. He played for coach Eddie Green with Team Thrill on the Under Armour circuit in the spring and summer of 2021.
After playing his freshman season at St. Maria Goretti, Batchelor was named first-team All-Howard County after the 2019-20 season as he averaged a team-high 13.5 points per game, playing in the highly-competitive Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference. He made 62 three-point field goals that season and 20 or more points on six occasions. In a big win over Archbishop Spaulding, Batchelor made six three-pointers and hit a buzzer-beater to send the game into overtime and eventually lead his team to victory.

Noah Batchelor: "I'm really excited to come home and play for my homestate team! Coach Willard and the staff have been awesome and really and I can't wait to play in front of the great fans at XFINITY Center. It's an honor to be his first commitment. Being able to wear MARYLAND across my chest will have special meaning to me being from in-state."
Head coach Kevin Willard: "It's only fitting that our first signee at Maryland is an in-state player. We are thrilled to welcome Noah to our family. He's a dynamic and athletic wing, who can shoot from outside and plays with great intensity. It's important that we keep the best talent from the DMV at home and signing Noah is an indication of that. For him to be able to play for his homestate team is very special and we can't wait to see him in that Terrapin uniform."
