AAC regular-season champion #14 Houston celebrated its Senior Night with a resounding 84-46 win over Temple Thursday night at the Fertitta Center.
The Cougars, led by Fabian White, Jr. (26 pts) and Taze Moore (17 pts) improved to 26-4, 15-2 AAC play. Nick Jourdain and Jahlil White led the Owls (16-11, 9-7 AAC) with 10 points each.
Recapping the Game
First half
> Houston scored the first 15 points of the half before Jourdain drained a three from the top of the key to put Temple on the board with 13:32 on the clock.
> The Owls then clawed their way back into the contest, using an 11-3 run to cut the margin to four, 18-14, with Zack Hicks scoring five in the stretch.
> The Cougars responded with an 11-3 run of its own to stretch the margin back to a dozen, but Temple would keep pace, trailing by 10, 33-23, at intermission.
Second Half
> Temple cut the lead to as low as seven points on a Jourdain layup, 33-26, at the start of the second half, but then things started to unravel for the Owls.
> After Houston went on a 9-4 run to take a 42-30 lead, Jourdain was called for an offensive foul and then coupled it with a technical to foul out of the contest at 15:29.
> The Cougars would explode a few minutes later, going on a 20-2 run to blow the game wide open, 69-38, with just under seven minutes to play.
> Temple was not able to get within striking distance the remainder of the contest.

> Temple hosts South Florida Sunday (2 pm/ESPN+/1210 AM WPHT) in its final home game of the season. The five team members and two managers who are graduating this semester will be honored before the game as part of Senior Day. It will also be Hooter The Owl's birthday with mascots from around the area on hand to celebrate the university's beloved mascot.
