TCU's defense held Oral Roberts to its lowest scoring output of the season in a 71-63 win on Thursday in Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs (6-1) held the Golden Eagles (4-4) to 24 points below their season average of 87.4 points per game. Mike Miles caught fire late to score 13 points, tying Damion Baugh for team-high honors. Miles also tied a career high with seven assists.
TCU jumped out to an 11-2 lead with the help of an 8-0 run, capped by a Chuck O'Bannon 3-pointer. Shortly after, TCU went on a 16-3 run to lead 27-10, following a put-back layup from Eddie Lampkin, who finished the game with eight points and five rebounds. The Horned Frogs led 39-29 at the half.
The Golden Eagles took their first lead of the night midway through the second half, but it didn't last long. Miles made his first bucket of the game with 9:35 to play, which spurred the Horned Frogs response. Miles made 12 of the final 18 points for TCU.
ORU got to within six points on the sixth 3-pointer by Preseason All-American Max Abmas, but a steal and dunk by Emanuel Miller with 14 seconds left pushed the lead to eight points. Abmas finished with 20 points, just under his season average of 24.5, which ranks in the top 10 nationally.
TCU will face Utah on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Simmons Bank Showdown, held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. The game will be shown on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
