University of Cincinnati infielder Jace Mercer was named a finalist for the 2021 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division I Gold Glove Team at second base.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 23 by Rawlings via Twitter. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007 and are presented annually to the top defensive players from each division of collegiate and high school baseball.

An ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region selection, Mercer snagged Second-Team All-AAC plaudits after hitting .340 on the year and .391 in AAC play. He led the Bearcats in hits (71), total bases (114), walks (28) and stolen bases (22) while ranking No. 2 in batting average, doubles (12), triples (2), games played (53) and starts (53).

Mercer belted nine home runs, had a .996 fielding percentage with only one error and teamed with shortstop Joey Bellini to turn an AAC-best 50 double plays.
